“Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.”

John Whitmore, ('Coaching for Performance')

ABOUT COACHING

My background as a theatre director, and qualified teacher and mediator has allowed me to develop a personalised approach to coaching that listens deeply to the client. No two people are the same, and to be an effective coach, you need to truly engage with the person’s core values, morality, ambitions and passions.

As a theatre director, it is my job to flex and adapt my approach to suit each actor in the rehearsal room’s particular challenges and skills. It is my job to empower and promote them to feel able to do their best work. As a teacher, I have learned that a student’s sense of ownership of their knowledge and ideas is the key to deep rooted learning. As a mediator, I have learned the power of listening, empathy and re-framing to enable fresh perspective. The combination of my skills and experiences has led me in the last few years to become a life coach, and I have had the privilege to join forces with a world class team to co-author,  ‘The Philosophical Life Compass’ (PLC)

Inspired by my father, Professor Irvine Gersch and an eminent team of Life Coach and Psychologists, the PLC is a practical coaching tool to help make complex life decisions. It is underpinned by a process of aligning decision making to your core values, and personal philosophy. In this busy and noisy world, we sometimes lose track of where our personal life compass is set – what we want, need and desire.

We have been successfully delivering training in how to use the PLC for coaches and psychologists, and I offer one-to-one coaching sessions using this process. The beauty of the format is that it can be carried out over two sessions, and can be a relatively quick way to make life changing decisions.
